Paperclip Session 4 — The Rusty Soul of Progressive Jazz.

Painting with Light and Sound

For the highly anticipated Session 4 of the Paperclip musical series, we decided to break away from the conventional and dive deep into the experimental. Titled "Colors," this session is a rich, immersive exploration of progressive jazz, designed to make the audience feel the groove in their very bones.

The musical arrangement complex, unpredictable, and undeniably smooth—required a visual aesthetic that could match its sophistication. We crafted an environment that perfectly reflects the layered, soulful nature of the jazz genre, turning the studio into a canvas of musical expression.

The Aesthetic of Rust and Rhythm

Visually, "Colors" is defined by its distinctive 'rusty' look. We heavily leaned into warm, vintage color palettes, moody shadows, and deliberate textural lighting to evoke the smoky, intimate atmosphere of a classic underground jazz club.

The cinematography perfectly complements the groovy feels of the track. With smooth, gliding camera movements that mimic the rhythm of the basslines and tight close-ups that capture the musicians' intense focus, this session is a flawless marriage of high-fidelity audio recording and cinematic visual storytelling.
